Student and Teacher Scholarship Opportunity

The VFW Post and Auxiliary Post 3987 in Sullivan is encouraging students to participate in a youth essay competition.  All essays must be submitted to the Sullivan VFW by October 31 and the local winners will be selected by local judges.  The winners can receive up to $200 for first place and $150 for second place and with potential their essay could move to the National level with awards up to $5,000. They shall complete the attached registration form and follow the guidelines for each entry.

Patriot’s Pen is for all students in 6th thru 8th grade.

Theme “What is Patriotism to me?”

In addition, we also support our local teachers.  Please see attached teacher entry form for nomination entry.  The VFW presents an elementary, middle and high school teacher with its Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award to recognize them for their outstanding commitment to teach and promote America's history, traditions and citizenship.
